Cartoon Animation Art

Bugs Bunny Cartoon ArtCartoon animation art become spectacularly collectible in the 1980s and 90s. In the 1970s, collectors first discovered that not only the characters on film brought them grins, but also that animation cels, drawings and storyboards were icons of happiness in their own right. You probably know that most original works of animation art were destroyed by the studios that created them because they were thought to be unnecessary! This makes one-of-a-kind cartoon animation art especially dear.

Here at Great American Ink’s Los Angeles, California gallery we have every sort of cartoon animation art imaginable. Maybe you’d like to glance at out glossary or simply click through the navigation bar to your left? Plus, we have memorabilia you haven't thought of like animator’s screen-actor guild cards, photographs of the animators, production timing sheets, home movies from the animators, art from books about animation, scripts, children’s masks from film premieres, color drawings and pencil sketches the animators did for fun in their after-hours.

Great American Ink has been collecting art from spectacular animators like Mel Blanc, Chuck Jones, Maurice Noble, Walt Disney, Bob Clampett and many others since 1992 when we fell in love with the art, like you have. And, there are animators you've never heard of, for example, Thelma Witmer, who vital to the history and preservation of animation.
