William Hanna and Joe Barbera, the eight-time Oscar duo, opened the doors of Hanna-Barbera in 1957. Hanna-Barbera had a major impact on television and became the most successful television animation studio in the world.
Hanna-Barbera was the first studio to run an animated series during prime time while their other cartoons dominated Saturday mornings. The studio created dozens of hit cartoons such as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear Show, The Huckleberry Hound Show, Top Cat, Jonny Quest and Scooby-Doo. Many of the characters are still popular today.
