At Greatamericanink.com
we collect many types of artwork, including beautiful, original
animation production storyboard sketches. Similar in appearance
to draft versions of comics, storyboards outline the
characters’ actions and dialogue in successive, but
independent panels. As the production of an animated feature
film or cartoon evolves, one of the critical first stages is the
storyboard. As a canon for the animated production,
nothing gets on film unless it’s first well-represented.

Storyboard animators are often the most
experienced, senior artists who can help a director determine
the best methods to give a cartoon its humorous or inspirational
impact. Storyboards can be pencil sketches or colored panels
depending on the director’s desires and precision. To evaluate
plotlines, each series of
storyboard sketches
are usually placed on large boards for the animators to review
during story meetings. Because the story panels are
“modular,” they can be re-arranged at will to change the
story or make it flow more smoothly.
We have especially beautiful collections of storyboard sketches,
many in complete sets from their original productions, to
present to you. We’d always love talking about
animation; why not drop us an e-note at
, or call us at 800 552 2847. We’d
look forward to hearing from you!
